Welcome to the Los Azahares Newsletter
August 2015 - 1st issue
This newsletter will give you an update of up and coming projects at the Los Azahares complex as well as news of recommended restaurants, places to visit and general happenings in and round the village.
We would also like to hear from you, the co-owners and visitors, if you have any news you feel may be of interest, or any photographs you would like us to add.
At present we have almost a full house out at the complex with new tenants/co-owners booked in until the end of September.
Just a reminder to you all to make sure you send in your booking forms and occupation fee in plenty of time so we can let Dean and Maureen know to enable them to get the villa ready for your stay.
Sue and Keith
Our good friend Tony Stevens
Most of you will remember Tony, who has been a co-owner at Los Azahares for many years and was also a director up until a few years ago. Tony is now living in a residential care home and Keith visited him recently and found him to be in high spirits.
Meson el que Faltaba - Tapas Bar
One of our co-owners, Fran Russell, has recommended a wonderful tapas bar along the Avenido Del Mediterraneo, 04638, Mojacar. It can be found next door to the Thomas Supermarket.
New Mattresses on Double Beds
When you next visit Los Azahares you can all look forward to comfortable night's sleep. New mattresses have recently been purchased plus the mattress covers to help keep them in good condition.
Dean and Maureen
As you know dean and Maureen no longer have an office at Mojacar Holiday Services, but you are able to contact Dean when you are in Mojacar on 0034 603522907, if you come up against any problems. He will be happy to help.
Updated Co-owner list
We are planning on sending out an updated co-owner list to everyone with telephone numbers/emails. if you prefer not to be on this list, then please let us know as soon as possible. Sue can be reached on 01494 731923 or [email protected].

June/July 2016 2nd issue
Hello to all of our co-owners.
This is our second Newsletter and we hope you enjoyed the first one. We have asked co-owners to let us have any interesting news or information regarding good places to eat or visit.
We would also like to have any photos you may wish to share of the complex or the village of Mojacar.
Bookings have been coming in thick and fast and some people who went out to the villas many years ago are paying a visit again this year.
Again, just a reminder to you all co-owners to make sure you send in your booking forms and occupation fee in plenty of time so we can let Dean and Maureen know of your visit to enable them to get the villa ready for your stay.

Internet Access
It is now possible to rent a box that gives you 4G internet with speeds of 20MPS for 10 Euros per day or 49 Euros per week. Trevor, who helps look after the complex alongside Maureen and Dean, has tried this and it works really well. No other equipment is needed and it plugs in anywhere.
The Bistro (above the Irish bar)
This is a new restaurant recently opened and is mainly French cuisine. There are no reviews yet but if you pay the restaurant a visit, please let us know what you think..
Lilly’s Bar (top floor of Parque Commercial)
Dean has let us know of this new bar—no reviews as yet. There is also a new tapas bar at the end of the road leading up to Los Azahares, opposite the old Caja Mar bank– again no reviews, so if you do pay a visit, please let us know what you think.
Facebook
Sue has created a Facebook page which is less formal than the website. The page is called Los Azahares Company Limited. If you have any photos you would like to add to the page please let Sue know.
Also, if you are unable to get out to Los Azahares during your month(s) please let us know and we will keep it in mind when any rental enquiries come in.
P.S. Finally, only positive comments to be added to the page please.
Maintenance & Occupancy Fees
We are pleased to announce that the Maintenance & Occupancy fees have remained the same again this year. Don’t forget to include your occupation fee when sending in your booking forms to Sue.
Many thanks.
Updated Co-owner list

Hello to all of our co-owners and here’s hoping for some beautiful weather during our visits to Mojacar this year.
We are now on our third Newsletter and we hope you are enjoying the little bits of information we are giving you. If you would like to share anything with us regarding your holiday, please let me know and I will add it to the next Newsletter.
In this Newsletter, one of our co-owners has done a bit of research on the local restaurants and I have given you this information as follows.
We would also like to have any photos you may wish to share of the complex or the village of Mojacar, and surrounding areas.
We are already receiving bookings for this year right through to October!
Again, just a reminder to you all to make sure you send in your booking forms and occupation fee in plenty of time so we can let Dean and Maureen know of your visit to enable them to get the villa ready for your stay.

The Bella Vista
This is the number one listed restaurant in Mojacar on Trip Advisor and deservedly so. It is extremely spacious, having been extended, but even so, it is always full and you will need to book.. For about 12 Euros, there is a 3-course menu with a large choice which will satisfy all tastes. The service is extremely friendly. The restaurant is a comfortable 15-minute walk from the complex. Turn right at the bottom of our road, walk past the Pueblo Indalo and the restaurant is about 300 or 400-metres further on with a prominent second floor, glass frontage, overlooking the sea.
Torre Bahia
This restaurant, as we subsequently found out, is owned by the same people that own The Bella Vista. The menu, the pricing and the service is just as good as The Bella Vista. It is somewhat smaller than The Bella Vista and has a noisier Spanish feel to it. There is a side road just past The Bella Vista and the Torre Bahia can be found about 100-metres along this road.
Puerto Madero
This is a tapas bar which you must visit, whether for tapas or a full meal. The format is quite unique. They offer only 3 different bottles of wine but we found them all to be very acceptable. For each bottle of wine you purchase, you get an entitlement to 6-plates of tapas. You will be offered a tapas menu with a wide range of selections including some Spanish dishes which you will probably not have encountered previously. We had two bottles of wine at 27 Euros in total and simply asked the waiter to give us a selection from the tapas menu. We then added a few further dishes for those who were slightly hungrier than the others and all left very satisfied. The price was ludicrously cheap and the service was incredibly attentive. The best news of all is that this restaurant is immediately opposite the bottom of our road on the beach side.
The Mediterraneo Buffet
This is a brand new restaurant and eating style for Mojacar. For a fixed price of 17.50 Euros, (half price for children), you can eat all you want and drink all you want including wine, beer, soft drinks and coffee. The choice of food is excellent. There is also a chef’s station where they will offer a choice of items that they will cook to your order in front of you. The only thing we noticed, that off-sets the quality and price of the food, is the lack of ambience. The large space is reminiscence of a canteen with very bright lights. However, it is well worth a look and they are very happy for you to walk in and they will show you around without any commitment. This is a comfortable 15-minute walk, turning left on the bottom of our road and just a little way past the camping site.
The Jolly Lemon (Lemon Lounge)
This restaurant and its staff have been in Mojacar for many years. It is English owned and offers, as well as the usual Spanish dishes, a wide mix of cuisine, including lots of home-made desserts! The service is excellent and very friendly but there is limited seating and you will need to book. The restaurant can be found at the back left-hand corner of the Gaviota complex. This is about a 15-minute walk from the bottom of our road, turning right..
El Gaucho Argentinian Steak Restaurant
This restaurant is owned by Thomas, (Of the Thomas supermarket fame). Its primary attraction (for us) is the flamenco dancing entertainment on a Friday evening. The steaks are good but the choice of food is not as wide as many of the other restaurants. We also found that the service suffered by comparison with other eating places. If you want a good steak then this is the place to go as the quality of the steak elsewhere can be variable. You will definitely need to book and this can be done at Thomas’ supermarket, which is next door to the restaurant. It is about 20-minutes’ walk from the villa turning right at the bottom of the road.
La Parata
There were mixed feelings about this restaurant. The menu was distinctive and interesting. However, some of the choices turned out to be disappointing. The setting, high up in the Parata Mountain, was delightful but anti-insect bite repellent was a must. The owner made us feel very welcome and also made us feel special. You will need a car or a taxi to get to this restaurant.
Finally, as these reviews were done last year, some restaurants may have changed their menu and/or closed. As far as we are aware, all of the above information is correct as at today’s date, but please forgive us if we have missed anything.
If you are able to visit the complex this year, we wish you all a lovely holiday and happy restaurant hunting.

August/September 2017 - 4th issue
Hello again everyone. We are well into the holiday season now and Los Azahares has been very busy with co-owners and tenants filling the complex right through to the end of September.
We are now on our fourth Newsletter and we hope you are enjoying the little bits of information we are giving you. As previously mentioned, if you would like to share anything with us regarding your holiday, please let me know and I will add it to the next Newsletter.
Please don’t forget to give us any snippets of information that you feel may be useful and also any photos of the area, or even a photo of your family enjoying the Los Azahares complex.
We still have limited availability in October, November and December of this year in case any of you fancy a late break at the complex. Please contact Sue on 01494 731923/675321 or email her on [email protected].
The new patio roofing is now complete and looks really good compared to the old canes that were there originally. We have received good feedback from the majority of co-owners.
Again, just a reminder to you all to make sure you send in your booking forms and occupation fee in plenty of time so we can let Dean and Maureen know of your visit to enable them to get the villa ready for your stay.

A Gentle Reminder
Could we please remind all co-owners/tenants that they need to vacate the villas by 10am on the day of departure.. This is in order to enable the cleans to take place for the incoming tenancy. However, if you do have a late flight on the day of departure, please give Sue a call to see if she can arrange for you to leave later on in the day. This will obviously depend on dates and times of the incoming tenants.
Welcome Pack
A welcome pack can be purchased from Dean and will cost you 20 Euros. This pack includes milk, water, coffee, bread and various other essential items. You can order this on the booking form and Sue will send it to Dean who will arrange to have the welcome pack in your villa for your arrival. Dean should be paid direct. If any of you would like any beer/wine or non-essential items that would not normally be included in the pack, please let Sue know and she will arrange this with Dean. Of course the price will be more than the usual 20 Euros but Dean will let you know.
Personal Details
On our database, we hold names, addresses, emails and telephone numbers for all co-owners. I should be grateful if you could let me know if anything changes with regard to your own information, i.e. email address, telephone number and last but not least your address. You can email me or call me during office hours to update me.
The Mediterraneo Buffet
This eatery was mentioned in the last newsletter but unfortunately, this restaurant has now closed.
Stray Cats
It has come to Dean’s attention that the stray cats have started to visit the complex again.
Unfortunately these cats are feral and carry fleas and various other nasties. They may appear friendly but unfortunately they can be very vicious.
PLEASE DO NOT FEED THESE CATS AS THEY WILL KEEP RETURNING TO THE COMPLEX TIME AND TIME AGAIN.
Some of them have entered the villas and it may be difficult to remove them safely.
Co-owners, please make sure that your family and friends do not feed these cats and please tell anybody who you are renting the villa to not to feed them also.
These cats will not starve if you don’t feed them as they will just move on to somewhere else, but we do not want them at Los Azahares.
And Finally
If you are planning to visit the complex in the next few months, we wish you all a lovely relaxing holiday and please don’t forget to let us know if you discover any new restaurants or places of interest to visit.

We have given you some details on two new restaurants in Mojacar and I have added them to the Los Azahares Facebook page. There is also the Albatross Mini Golf for a lovely family day out.

As some of you will already know, a long standing friend and director of Los Azahares, sadly passed away last November. He was a very active member of Los Azahares and was much appreciated in his role as a director. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.
Sale of Villa 5 and other available months for sale
Since our last Newsletter we have sold another of the villas. Number 5 was sold to Joe Harley who is a relative of one of our co-owners.
If any of you are thinking of acquiring another month in one of the villas, then please contact Sue or Keith on 01494 731923 and they will let you know what months and what villas are available.
New Indian Curry House—Paseo de Mediterraneo, Mojacar

This mini golf park is also pet friendly and a cosy shack serves snacks and cool beverages. There is ample seating area and apparently there is a funny furry pet that you can play with too—but don’t hold me to that as I’m not sure what is meant by a funny furry pet! There is also a kid’s trampoline so it is a nice way to while away an hour or so on a non-beach, swimming pool day.

If any of you are thinking of acquiring another month in one of the villas, then please contact Sue or Keith on 01494 731923 and they will let you know what months and what villas are available.
